Background
Founded in 2010 by fellow DAAP Industrial Design graduates, Alex Aeschbury and Zach Darmanian – Harris, Such + Such has grown to work with clients nation wide in the areas of furniture, interior design, and signage. Our studio consists of industrial designers, craftsman, and project managers; who work in their Over-the-Rhine workshop, combining 21st century technology with traditional craftsmanship to create one-of-a-kind designs.
Mission Statement
We are builders.
We build up our people—our employees come first.
We build in our community—our work transforms spaces into places.
We build with our clients—we practice servant leadership in everything we do.
Brand position
We make custom simple.
Our designers eat lunch with our fabricators. We are one team with one purpose—allow your brand the full expression it deserves. You deal with one invoice and one vendor, but you’ll meet plenty of friendly faces before we wrap. We handle everything else, project scope, design, fabrication, subs and installation. When you work with Such + Such you are working with world class designers and master fabricators with a endless network of thoroughly vetted experts all working in tandem to give your brand the physical presence needed to standout. All of this with a point of view and style you wont find anywhere else.
the logo
Our logo, designed in collaboration with our good friend Nicci Martinez, is a boldly colorless execution featuring strong typography, letting the materiality, reflectivity, and timbre of the physical world provide the panache.
Logo Anatomy
Inspired by the functionally minimalist logos of the industrial revolution and executed with the thoroughly modern Gridnik Typeface the logo was developed with two distinct goals:
Easily mechanically reproduced in a variety of fabrication techniques i.e. CNC engraving.
Achieve a memorable aesthetic while still pairing well with a huge variety of client logos regardless of industry or trade.
Brand Guidelines
After developing the logo we continued to refine our visual identity, culminating in a complete Brand Standards document of which several excerpts are shown below.
